PLANS to create a new free and low-cost community shop have been submitted to the council.
It comes after a planning application was validated by the local authority on Wednesday, August 30, to form the facility on Main Street in Neilston.
The applicant aims to create a space where cookery workshops can be delivered to a community shop and where low-cost and locally-grown produce can be purchased along with plastic dry-free food.
On top of that, according to the plans, they are also hoping to open a community fridge and larder which locals can access for free.
They also hope there will be an element of a community shop with zero waste dry goods so people can access the free food in a "dignified manner".
The applicant said: "The space will be split in two (no walls being created).
"On one side there will be the fridge/shop and on the other, we will keep a space for community members to use for workshops."
The plans are yet to be approved by the council.
