NEILSTON is ready to saddle up for its annual agricultural show this Saturday – with a huge selection of fun stalls and activities.

And the event is set to be broadcast on BBC Alba.

The cameras will be roving the show field and recording the dog trials at the show’s 191st event.

There will be various cute animals on show, including pet lambs and Shetland Ponies, as well as a dog agility show and the main competition for top farm animals.

With the economic downturn beginning to ease off, the show’s committee are hoping for a few more entrants this year, eager to see more fine quality cattle, sheep, and horses entering the ring to fight it out for champion of champions.

The Holehouse fields will also be playing host to family events, including Tug O’ War, as well as fun for the gentle spirited at the arts and crafts tent.

They will also be running a gruelling 4.5-mile race around the tracks around Neilston Pad, starting from the show field at 10am.

Winners will be presented with trophies, almost as prestigious as winners from the main cattle show. Local producers and traders are invited to come and display their skills and sell their goods.

Motorbike racing and local dancing schools are to display their talents around the main ring.

Schools are also being encouraged to get teams together to partake in the tug of war and relay races.

Entry for the dog competition is on the day, with entries opening at 10am and judging starting at 11.30am.

It is a small fee for an entry.
