Neilston moved into the quarter-finals of the Strathclyde Demolition Cup at the weekend after coming from behind to win at Port Glasgow.

The hosts took the lead in the first half at the Parklea Community Stadium through Brad Cooper but the Farmer’s Boys hit back after the break.

Dom Reilly levelled the scoreline for Kevin Muirhead’s side and it looked like the game was heading for the lottery of a penalty shootout until Darren Jones popped up with a last-minute header to secure victory for Neilston.

The Brig O’Lea outfit have been drawn to face either Thorn Athletic or St Peter’s in the last eight, with the Fourth Division teams set to play their match next month.

Cup football continues for Neilston this Saturday as they travel to Third Division opponents Lanark United.

That tie is in the first round of the West of Scotland Cup and kick-off at Moor Park is at 2pm.
